Derek Jeter helps heal wounds
By Anna Sier
If I could spend one day with any Yankee player it would have to be Derek Jeter because he is the captain of the Yankees and he is one of the greatest players alive. Derek Jeter proved that any one could follow their dreams. He was a kid in a small town with the big dream of playing for the New York Yankees. Many people told him that it would not happen, but he proved them wrong. The people that told him he couldn’t make it to the Yankees just made him want to make it more to prove to them that he could make it. This he did when the Yankees drafted him. He shows great pride in everything that he does. He is there when the Yankees need him the most. He shines the best during the playoffs. It doesn’t matter to him if he gets hurt like he did when he went flying into the bleachers to catch the ball hit by the Red Sox’s player. For him the job has to get done no matter what it takes. If it was up to him I’m sure he would have continued playing even with a cut on his chin. He is a very determined player. He wants to win. If I were able to spend the day with Derek Jeter I would thank him for giving me the strength when my brothers passed away. In 2001 and 2002 two of my brothers passed away and I was devastated. I was very close to both of them and I wouldn’t believe it when I found out that they had passed away. During that time I started watching the Yankees more than ever. I needed to get my mind off of everything that had happened. My Aunt gave me a book about him and I read it. My obstacle was extremely hard but I got through it with the help of Derek Jeter even though he really wasn’t there to help me. If I could spend one day with Derek Jeter I would thank him for helping me get through the deaths of my two brothers and I would also like to play some baseball with him and get some good advice.
